More Precious than Jewels

"An excellent wife is the crown of her husband" Proverbs 12:4a

"An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels." Proverbs 31:10

This past year has involved lots of transitions for our family. Last January we moved all the way across the world to Papua New Guinea and begun learning a new language and culture. Being pretty isolated here in a place like Papua New Guinea has been tough. It's been really hard on our marriage. And to be honest, the year or so leading up to getting to the field was pretty tough as well. We did not make our marriage a priority, which was wrong and has not served us well on the field. We've had a lot of ups and downs in our marriage since we've been here in PNG. Some days it feels like it's a lot more downs than ups.

Through it all, I am so thankful for Sarah. I was reminded of this yesterday as we got time to to talk, relax, and have a date night on our day off. It's pretty easy to forget to be thankful for what we have in the day to day chaos of life on the mission field with two little kids. It's a huge blessing to have an excellent wife no matter where I live and minister, but especially in a ministry like this in PNG. I am definitely a better person and minister of the gospel because of her being in my life. As Scripture says, she is my crown and is more precious than jewels. God has richly blessed me!
