Jem practicing her moose call at Bass Pro |
One of the things I had been involved in the last time I was here was jail ministry. It's a great place to serve and get experience preaching the Word. I had actually planned on not going back to that ministry as we were preparing to come down here, simply because I didn't want to spread myself too thin. Then during orientation week I found out that we should be doing some sort of practical ministry, and God started putting a desire to serve those guys at the jail in my heart. So I got in touch with the guy who is involved in that ministry, and started the ball rolling. It was great to reunite with him over the phone and he was excited to get me plugged in. He gave me the number of the guy at the jail who organizes everybody coming in, and told me to call him the next day. We ended up meeting on Thursday morning, and it looks like God is opening up the door for me to work in there again! This is a big praise item, as a lot of things have changed with the jail policies, but the guy in charge was still willing to accommodate me.
We spent the day on Saturday resting and relaxing. It was nice to decompress after classes all week. I spent a little bit of time doing research on bowhunting and then working on my bow in the morning. Then in the afternoon the three of us drove out to the Bass Pro Shop that's about 20 minutes away. Sarah and Jem had never been there before, and they both really liked it. We also got to take part in some good food and fellowship over at Justin & Emily's house, watching football with them and some others. It was a refreshing day, and we are looking forward to another week of training!
