1st Week of Training

Monday's Introductions in the Classroom
Our first week of training went great! We learned what life over the next 9 months is going to look like, and we also did lots of great team-building exercises. I've already shared about our experience with blindfolded frisbee golf, but we also did a geocaching scavenger hunt, as well as a sand-mayan-temple-building competition!

Tuesday we talked mostly about the spiritual development aspect of the training. I'm very excited to see the mentoring program being incorporated this year!

Wednesday was training regarding how our financial system works. I'm very excited about the new system that is being implemented. It provides very detailed, precise information that is very helpful in raising support and being good stewards of what God has provided through supporters like you!

Thursday spoke to the classroom training that we will be getting, which will be roughly 60% of the program. We start a class called "Exposition in Mission" on Tuesday morning. I'm eager to learn the skills involved in expositing Scripture.

Yesterday was information regarding our on-the-field training in Mexico over the course of the year. We will be going into Mexico once a month. We were broken into teams and were assigned villages that we will be doing church-planting in over our time here as trainees. The goal is for these church-planting ventures to be continued by the next batch of trainees.

We walked away from this past week very excited to see what God has in store as we sit under the leadership of the Center for Pioneer Church Planting! They take this program very seriously, as To Every Tribe takes mission very seriously. This is very encouraging to us as missionary trainees. It's been great to get to know leadership over the last week. God has brought an amazing team of people in to serve as leadership, and they are doing a fantastic job in preparing long-term missionaries.

On a personal note, I just want to thank you for all your prayers regarding humility on my part. There was a lot of fleshly pride and arrogance that came out last time I was here in training, and so that was a prayer request as we headed down here. Your prayers have been felt even this last week in situations where I was surprised to see the Spirit working humility where once there was arrogance and brashness. Praise be to the Lord!
