Kids, Cars & an Electrician

Sunday was a bit of a rough day for the kids in our village. One of the kids had a heavy bench fall on his toe, and one of the young girls got bit on the lip by a dog. Both of their dads are friends of mine, and I helped get both kids to the hospital. Both kids were able to get patched up in a timely manner, which was great. As a bunch of our friends and their kids hung out on our porch that evening, I watched one boy who's probably twelve pushing Sawyer on our swing. Both boys were having a blast, and it really caused thankfulness to well up in my heart for all the kids in our village. I'm also really thankful that we have a car that we were able to use to help the kids get to the hospital.

Sunday night the power went off at our house for no apparent reason. We were still getting power on the station, just not at our house. Me and some of my friends tried to troubleshoot the problem, but we really had no idea what we were doing. I was able to call a qualified electrician on Monday morning, and once we got him here he had it fixed in like 20 minutes. So thankful for that contact and his skills!

Monday morning we also had the opportunity to attend a wake for the son of one of the ladies who does work for us here at the station. Her son was only four years old but had been sick in the hospital for a long time. It was a really, really sad experience. We were thankful to be given the opportunity to be there and hopefully be the aroma of Christ to our friends in such a hard time. As is probably true for many ministries, a big part of what we do here is showing up, being there for people and showing them the love of Christ. In many ways we feel inadequate for this job. We are only able to do this by the strength and power of the Holy Spirit. Please pray for us, that we would be filled with the Holy Spirit.
