The Lord Goes Before Us

Exodus 23

As I was reading in Exodus 23 the other day, I was encouraged by a passage that showed God saying that He was going to go before the Israelites as they entered Canaan. He had called them into a new land and He was going to pave the way for them to get there. He makes bold, powerful statements in this passage like "I will send my terror before you and will throw into confusion all the people against whom you shall come, and I will make all your enemies turn their backs to you." (Exodus 23:27) With the all-powerful God of the universe paving the way for them, what could stand against the Israelites? Nothing!

This passage really encouraged me as God has called us to be missionaries to those with no access to the gospel in Papua New Guinea, and He is paving the way for us to go! This time of preparation, and especially the support-raising, is a daunting task. But God has faithfully given us the strength and grace for each day, and He has faithfully gone before us in ways that we could not have even imagined. It is with confidence in a loving, powerful God that we move forward with our plans to move to Papua New Guinea in December.
